Leafeater branch out!
Bradford rock band, Leafeater, are set to release a new album
through their own label after help from the singers's music industry
consultant.
The band, who got together in the summer of 1997, have since
built up a growing live following for their take on the big, loud
rock guitar sound. Leafeater set up heir own label, called GAK
Records, after being let down by another label wanting to branch
into rock music.
Band songwriter, vocalist and guitarist, Kester Loy, explained:
"My consultant has been extremely helpful in guiding me through
the in's and out's of starting up the label and how I should approach
people in the music industry to advance out cause."
"We meet monthly and talk through ideas on how to go on
to the next step of achieving my ambitions," he added.
Likened to such acts as Blink 182, Foo Fighters, Green Day and
Feeder, Leafeater have already pulled off major tour support experience
with local boys made good, the chart-topping Terrorvision.
"The band came to see us at one of our gigs, liked what
they heard and asked for one of our CD's," said Kester. As
a result, Leafeater ended up doing twenty gigs over two tours
supporting Terrorvision.
With final mixes of the album just being completed, Leafeater
will initially sell their CD through their own website and at
gigs.
Whilst things get underway for the band, Kester has completed
a business training course and has now begun to use his skills
as a guitar tutor.
Following mid-March appearances at Edinburgh and the Cambridge
Boat Race, the band will visit the Bull and gate in London on
April 16 and then return home to Leeds on April 18 at Joseph's
Well in Leeds.
